Welcome To Kenmare!!!! The community has much to offer whether you stop for an hour, a day or longer.
* The old Danish Mill sets in the lush park square at the heart of Kenmare’s downtown business district. The two-story tall windmill was built in 1902. Four large 18-foot vanes once captured the wind’s power to grind wheat into livestock feed or flour for local farmers.

* To the immediate north of town is the Kenmare Country Club. It is a 9-hole grass green course with irrigated fairways and greens. Golfers can enjoy a scenic overlook of the Des Lacs Lake and valley from most of the course.

* The Scenic Lake Road (former route of Highway 52) was recently rebuilt to accommodate tourist traffic along the Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge and lake. This route has now achieved designation as a North Dakota Scenic Backway. The twelve mile gravel road has nature trails for walking and wildlife observation. The refuge has become a very popular destination for bird watchers from around the world. Call the refuge headquarters at 701-385-4046 for information or stop in the Visitor Center at the refuge.

* Another point of interest is the Lake County Pioneer Village & Museum located in northeast Kenmare. It consists of five acres and 18 buildings, including early day businesses, one-room school house, 1904 home, and a pioneer church.

* A second museum of interest is the V & R Toy Museum located next to the Vern and Rose Eymann home.

* Recreational facilities include the city’s heated outdoor swimming pool, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, indoor gymnasiums, softball fields, children’s play parks, and ice skating rink. Tasker's Coulee is located two miles outside of town with modern bathrooms, a sheltered picnic area and numerous private picnic spots secluded in the trees. The area is also great for hiking and hill climbing.

* For evening entertainment, sit back with a hot buttered popcorn and take in a movie at the renovated Kenmare Theatre.

* Surrounding the downtown park square are a variety of interesting stores. The White Buffalo Soda Fountain offers old fashioned sodas and ice cream using actual turn-of-the-century soda fountain fixtures and furnishings.

* Kenmare Floral and Gifts and The Gift Bank are two downtown businesses which offer quality gift items difficult to find anywhere else.

* Two restaurants also occupy the downtown business district. Ying Bin Chinese Restaurant offers a buffet menu of authentic Cantonese style food with seating for 70. Cindy’s Cafe offers home-style cooking with seating for 85. Additional eating establishments include Danny’s Steakhouse & Bar, Chill-n-Grill Drive In, and the Pizza Hub. Quick-fried food items are available at City Limits bar and Beer Bob’s tavern. Julie's coffee shop offers hot and cold beverages in a unique atmosphere. South of the Border, along Highway 52, provides a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, along with a popular Sports Bar and private meeting rooms.

* Kenmare's modern convenience store on Highway 52, the Cenex C-Store, offers convenience food items, along with fuel for cars and trucks. Freeman Oil & Gas, located downtown, provides full-service fill-ups.

* Other retail and service businesses located downtown Kenmare include two grocery stores, a dollar and variety store, a hardware store, a quilting shop, auto parts store, three banking institutions, a law office, two accounting firms, three hair and nail salons, funeral home, four insurance agencies, laundromat, post office, newspaper and printing shop, automotive repair shop, and plumbing shop.
